working to understand

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a condition that sometimes shows no obvious cause. In order to gain a better understanding of IBS, and its effects on sufferers, there are always a number of research programmes run by hospitals and universities.

We have provided a list of current research opportunities who need help from IBS sufferers; if you have the available time and want to help further the understanding of IBS, please feel free to volunteer, your assitance could help find a way to help others live with IBS.
  • Synexus is looking for people to participate in a study to test a well-known, over-the-counter treatment for chronic constipation. To join the study you must be aged 18 years or older and suffer from constipation. Click here to find out more.

  • The Human Nutrition Unit, at Sheffield University, is seeking volunteers who are aged 18 or over with active Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
